In the midst of lots of Corona-related events, contests, and all-around madness, we also saw lots of awesome new apps.

As hard as it is to play favorites, for the month of March, we have chosen Streets of New York as the App of the Month.

The reason we chose Streets of New York was because of what it brought to the table — a whole new way of looking at eBooks on the iPad!

We have featured a children’s eBook as our App of the Week before, and now Streets of New York seems to take that concept one step further with its 3D historical photo gallery. Whether you wanna go the traditional 3D route with glasses, old-school with stereoscopic lenses, or optic-free with Sweep 3D (exploring photos by moving “through” them with your fingers), Streets harnesses the unique functionality of the iPad to let you literally walk through the streets of 19th century New York City!

It’s one thing to create an ordinary eBook that you simply read off the screen — but it’s a whole other ball game to make an eBook as extraordinary as this, which turns a tablet into an truly interactive learning platform.

Congrats to creator Erwin Wolf on winning our App of the Month and receiving 3 more free months (which makes 6 total!) to his Corona SDK subscription!
