Our pick for App of the Month shouldn’t really come as much of a surprise. It’s Bubble Ball!
Instead, we’ll point to Bubble Ball’s other unprecedented achievement among the Corona community — it was the first Corona-made app to hit #1 in the App Store! This happened well before we told a few media outlets about the game in our subsequent media campaign. The fact that Bubble Ball was able to hit #1 in the App Store with no marketing or PR whatsoever (well, unless you count us choosing it as our App of the Week), which speaks volumes about its caliber as a mobile game.
Bubble Ball has inspired many new users to take up Corona SDK to try their hand at building the next great game. By creating such a successful game, Robert illustrated what we’ve been saying all along: anybody can use Corona to create a top-notch mobile app. Bubble Ball‘s use of the Corona physics engine shows exactly how the best game doesn’t always have to be the most complex. All what it takes is some imagination on your part — and we’ll provide you with the rest!
If you still haven’t checked out Bubble Ball, go get it from the App Store or Android Market right now (it’s free!). If you already have it, be sure to check out the 11 new levels that Robert added just last week.
Lastly, in case you’re keeping count, Bubble Ball has topped 7 million downloads to date. Whoa.
