…But still, nice artwork doesn’t hurt either! Blast Monkeys’ sleek look and feel gives a great carnival-meets-jungle vibe that will make you feel like a slightly younger kid again — well, as long as you played Donkey Kong Country in those days.
Digging deeper, you’ll notice that you can play the games one of two ways: the simple “point A to point B” carom game, and the “collect all the bananas before you carom to point B” game (again, DK Country!). I got an initial feel for the game the first way, then the latter route had me going back to each of the game’s 25 levels, making sure I had collected all triplets of bananas in each stage. Come to think of it, this duality of gameplay gives the game a wide appeal; the simpler route would suffice for your littlest ones, while the more challenging option will keep you or older children more engaged. Not sure if the Yobonja guys intended it to be this way, but I’m sure they won’t mind the extra appeal!
And if that wasn’t enough for mass appeal, here’s one more tidbit: the game is free! So, head on over to the App Store and try your hand at the first 25 levels right now. Congrats to the Yobonja team, and we’re looking forward to all of their Blast Monkey updates!
Ohhh, “easy to complete, tough to perfect!” That could’ve saved me a paragraph or two.
